Fear for the Nation

There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood…..Proverbs 6:15-16 (emphasis mine)

Are we (conservative Americans) resting in a false sense of security because of the gangbusters action coming under the leadership of President Trump? It seems that we’ve forgotten the goodness and grace of God and have surrendered our allegiance to a man…or a governmental god. Have we forgotten that God (the One True God of the scriptures) will judge a nation as well as individuals?

The land of the U.S.A. is so polluted with the blood of innocent babies killed in the womb that we cannot possibly expect any reprieve from the Lord. He warns us in scripture that murder is a capital offense (Exodus 21:12).  Though most people making our laws are not Christians and have not studied the scriptures, they have been told what God says. They refuse to listen, they do not have ears to hear but, before God, they are without excuse.

So are Christians also without excuse? Yes! Our silence, our standing by and refusing to talk about it as murder to anyone because it might start an argument or we might lose respect in the workplace, is sinful.  We are quick to criticize the pregnant woman who kills her baby in the womb for her own convenience but fail to see that we stay silent for our own convenience.

The scripture says, “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries” (Hebrews 10:26-27).

Another way we are effectively silent on the issue is when we vote for the “Pro-choice” politician who believes that the Supreme Court is the highest form of authority over our nation. We are equally silent as we vote for “Pro-life” politicians who –  if we take an honest look –have done almost nothing with regard to stopping the killing of babies in the womb.

Babies can now be killed in more sterile buildings with better entrances and exits, wider hallways, and more comfortable seating.  The laws have limited the number of weeks for an abortion in some cases. But, all of those “pro-life” political solutions essentially end with “then you can kill the baby.”

Every mother and father who kill their baby will face Almighty God at judgment, One on one. But we must not be fooled into thinking that they alone will be judged by Almighty God. As a nation, as we sit silently and complacently while the nation not only allows but encourages women to abort their babies, we will suffer with them in His judgment. It would appear we are doing so now as we see plenty happening politically but little moral or effectual changes regarding life in the womb.

R.J. Rushdoony has said that we will not change the culture by revolution but by regeneration. It is time for the Christian Church to diligently share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our neighbors. It is an act of loving them and our neighbors in the womb.

With the change in hearts will come the change in the culture. It is a big fear to face the judgment of God for those who do not know Him. It should be a bigger fear (for our nation) for those of us who do know Him and do nothing to bring people to faith in, and obedience to, the Most High God.

Will we fear God or man?

The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught (Psalms 9:15).
