The War is On (And they are coming for our kids)
I am not a big sports fan but somewhere I learned that the “best defense is a good offense.”
On Sunday I was reminded that the only offensive weapon in the “full armor of God” from Ephesians 6 is “the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God.”
These battles today are often thought of, even among Christian circles, as political battles. However, Ephesians 6 is clear that it is not an earthly enemy we are facing but behind the attacks is the devil.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:11-12)
Now, obviously, there are flesh and blood people who are taking the lead on some of the attacks on the family. We see it in our government and in our schools, as well as some medical facilities now fighting a parent’s prerogative to decide on treatment for their children. The efforts behind these attacks are purely evil.
The family is God’s plan for societal organization. His enemies are trying to take it down as there is great power in parents (especially godly parents) to influence the next generation.
Whether we want to see it or not, there is a war for our children’s hearts. The evil that exists wants them to be heirs to an evil empire that will control all things that have been assigned to the family (i.e., teaching them, providing for them, protecting them, and taking on the medical decision making such as “vaccines” and gender dysphoria “treatments”).
The word “war” is deliberately used here to indicate that this is not a single “battle” where it will not matter whether we win or lose because the “war” is not lost. Every area of parent’s right that is taken from the family, either because we are silent when we first see it happening, or because it is literally legislated away from us, will cost us as our enemy feels strengthened with each perceived “win” for them.
In the reminder that our only offensive weapon in the armor of God is “the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God” (Ephesians 6:12), it is clear that we must prepare for the war that is here (not coming, it’s here). We have to know God’s Word in such a way that we can understand it and argue it.
The Bible says that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Christ and we agree. But that means that any authority to be exercised on earth must be delegated from Him. Important to our circumstances is that authority over children has been delegated to the parents (Deuteronomy 6:6-8). According to God’s Law the parents are fully responsible before God for the training, educating, providing for, and protection of children.
Many think Christians should stay out of the fight and allow the culture to go whatever way the Lord takes it. The Lord, however, has given us defensive weapons to protect ourselves and one offensive weapon to use to turn our enemies from harming us or our families.
How well do we need to know God’s Word in order to argue it with politicians and even some churches who are obviously influenced by evil intentions?
Are you prepared for the battle? The evil ones who are ready for battle are not coming, they are here. Will we use the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, to battle against the enemies of God? His Word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11). It is our best – and only – offense.
What do you mean by saying “our government” and “our schools?”
“A man cannot owe allegiance to two sovereigns. He cannot be a citizen of two republics. If a man has the right to expatriate, and another nation has a right and disposition to adopt him, it is a compact between the two parties, consummated by the oath of allegiance.”
“A man’s last will as to his citizenship may be likened to his last will, as to his estate; it supersedes every former disposition; and when either takes effect, the party, in one case, is naturally dead, in the other, he is civilly dead; — but in both cases, as good Christians and good republicans, it must be presumed that he rises to another, if not to a better, life and country. ” 1 Black’s Com.
Abraham confessed they were sojourning strangers and pilgrims in the land of promise. It was not their country. They desired and were looking for a ‘better” heavenly country. Therefore, God was not ashamed to be called their God. Hebrews 13
Have you ever read the Oath of Allegiance for Naturalized Citizens? You can find it on the US Citizenship and Immigration Services site online.
“The doctrine is, that allegiance cannot be due to two sovereigns and taking an oath of allegiance to a new is the strongest evidence of withdrawing allegiance from a previous sovereign …” Talbot v. Janson, 3 U.S. 133 (1795) in the head notes. Not in the text of the ruling.
The government should owe allegiance to the people, not the people to the government.
“I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
With all my strength, with all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb.
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb by Ray Boltz

Harry, I would hope if this post shows nothing else it is clear evidence that I have no allegiance to “our” government or “our” schools. I call them “ours” because I am writing in the State of Pa, my state of residency, where, sadly, I must pay taxes that are used in ungodly ways. I guess I feel owenership because of my “investment.” I cannot speak about other governments or other school sysytems – but “ours” is evil under the sovereignty of our God (Proverbs 21:1The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.).
I am trying to make the point that they should not have our allegiance, God, His Son and His Spirit, as well as His Word are what He has given us to work with. Through your correspondence I am getting the picture that you do not think we should be interacting with the world at all (maybe you would say evangelism). The Lord put us here and told us to disciple the nations. I am trusting Him to use what I write for His glory.
Yes, the war is on, and we will certainly lose it all if we continue to refuse to see that, indeed, a war is exactly that in which we find ourselves. Will we do what we need to do to teach our children the Law-Word of God?
Or, will we continue to wave the white flag by giving up the future generations to those who hate Christ, His Word, and His Kingdom?
